“Happiness does not depend on what you have or who you are, it solely relies on what you think.”
So many of us keep thinking the same things over and over and wonder why we aren’t any happier.
I’ve been texting a friend and she hasn’t texted me back. My feelings are hurt. But then I start to get upset with her for not even acknowledging my text.
When I’m thinking of her in that context, I am definitely NOT happy.
She’s not even in the room so my being upset has ZERO impact on her.
And yet, I’m the one who is miserable.
When you look around your room and see clutter and disorganization, are you focusing on the tools you have and where you’re going to start?
Or are you thinking yourself out of action?
Are you thinking so much that you are starting to tell yourself stories about the stuff around you and your ability to affect change?
If so, then it is probably time to STOP thinking THOSE thoughts and start thinking the thoughts that enable you to dig in.
It’s just stuff.
It will not care whether it’s in your home or office or someone else’s.
Do you want to be happy and have a simple life?
Start thinking about freedom, of living a life of purpose and meaning where stuff doesn’t crowd you out or occupy your free time.
Think about the things you will contribute to your community of friends, family and neighbors without the burden of buying stuff you don’t need, working more to pay for all that stuff, and then having to take care of all that stuff as well.
Don’t you already have everything you need? Really?
Let today be the day you think yourself free.
