The most significant achievements started with one simple action.
Many of us tend to focus on the big finish the goal.
Then we look at how far we still have to go, all the things still to do, and how long it is still going to take us.
We seldom look back to see how far we’ve traveled.
The next time you get discouraged and how much more there is still to do, focus only on the next step.
The next step isn’t that scary by itself.
One deep breath and there you go.
The fact is, you’ll see greater results by doing something consistently in tiny increments than you will by procrastinating and then throwing yourself into something once every 3 weeks.
You may not feel like you are moving forward, but you are.
Every step forward is one step closer to where you want to be, even baby steps.
As a friend and teacher of mine like to say, “Anyone can take one more step.”
Look around at where you’re feeling stuck. What can you do to take even a tiny step forward?
Can you pick up one magazine, recycle one bottle or can, throw away one email, or hang up one piece of clothing?
After you do the one thing, take a moment to savor your achievement and then tweet it out: @andrewjmellen #babysteps (or) #stepbystep
